Car Vandalism
On July 24, between 11 pm and 6 am, somebody broke my car window. No stone was found, they could've taken my ipod, but they didn't... I think they did it just to screw around. This was on Apache Pl.

Be Aware of Your Cars and Doors.
This morning, as I went out to start my truck for work (a little after 6AM), I noticed a group of 8 people walking down Winchester Dr. I found it interesting that they were walking very quietly and not talking to each other. I also found it interesting that there would be that many people eager to get up at 6AM just to walk around. And I can tell you they weren't doing it for exercise.. There were at least 2 females as I can recall, and their age range was somewhere in their teens.
I don't know if this is Spring Break for students or not, but usually kids when walking on our street are talking, laughing, making jokes, giving each other playful bumps, etc. There was none of that with this group. My first thought was they might be trying to be quiet so they would go unnoticed while casing some homes.
Sorry for my paranoia but this was just really odd.

ANOTHER BURGLARY OVER THE WEEKEND!!
One of our Chestnut Drive neighbors were burlarized over the weekend. They were away for the weekend so we have no timeline...They came in through the back window..cutting the screen. They left through the front door. Please keep your eyes and ears open...If you see anything at all - I urge you to call the CCSD. Keep your lights on.
Another Robbery
There was another robbery on Chestnut over the weekend. The homeowners were out of town and the thieves found their way in through the kitchen window somehow (after cutting the screen). What are we going to do about this?
We were the ones robbed last week despite the fact that we had all of our outside lights on and all of the doors locked.

another door-to-door oddity
Tonight at 8PM, a young teen knocked on our front screen door (half glass half screen, locked at that time). I was working on something in our living room and couldn't get to the door right at that moment, so I called out "who is it?" At the time the teen knocked, I saw them briefly, and they saw me. However upon seeing me, they hid somewhat off to the side of our door, to where I could no longer see their face. They replied, "cut". I said "what???" And again came the reply, "cut". I could not understand why someone would be offering to cut my lawn (if that's even what it was they were saying) when it was almost completely dark out, so I simply said "no thanks". Things got even weirder, when the person immediately replied "no, I have a girlfriend". Again I said "what??" The teen then showed themselves, and again said "I have a girlfriend". At this point I did not know what type of person I was dealing with, but it was starting to feel like a potentially dangerous situation. I finally said "I think you should leave now". At this point they held up some small white laminated card, with some pictures on it but I could not make out at all what was on it from where I was. At this point I was really getting mad and I said "I'm not interested". Again he said "I'm not interested either, I have a girlfriend", after which he laughed. I finally said "would you like for me to call the police?" He laughed again and mumbled something and walked on to our neighbor's house. They were not home. I then saw him heading down Winchester towards Fletchwood Rd.
After they left, I could not help but wonder if the same thing was being done here as Cristian posted below, regarding scoping out houses for robberies. I'm not exactly sure of how to handle this situation if it occurs again, but it left me very concerned for my family tonight.
The person was a young black teen, wearing a white t-shirt and jean shorts, probably around 5' 11" in height (from where I was sitting in our house I could not see him straight on to get a better height estimate). If this person happens to be the son of one of our blog readers or community members, I cannot stress enough that you might want to have a chat with him about his "sales" skills. The best part of it all is we have a sign right next to our door which clearly reads, "no soliciting". It was the first time in a long time I felt unsafe in our own neighborhood.

what is happening at the pond??
I see a backhoe and some work vehicles, along with gravel and drain tubes at the pond. What is being done, does anyone know?
chase/crash last night- status?
Last night we had the windows open because it was such a nice evening, and at 2:40AM I was awakened by a car that was speeding either up or down Winchester Dr. They blew the stop sign and it sounded like they had to be going at least 40 mph. Suddenly I heard a loud SCREEEEEEEEECH, and am pretty sure I heard a crash after that. About a minute after, I heard cop car sirens on Fletchwood Rd., and the car sounded like it came up Winchester to find the car.
Did anyone else happen to hear this or see anything? I don't think I'm getting dementia just yet :)

Two guys walking door to door?
On Thursday night, 2 young guys between the ages of 18 and 22 rang my bell and asked for money for their soccer team's trip to Holland. They said that it was on the paper and they are lo cater on Cedar Rd, close to here. We didn't give any money and immediately went online to look for Cedar Rd... nothing even close with that name is around here.... Have any of you had these 2 guys knocking on your door? Do you know if this is legitimate or are they surveying the area and choosing which houses to rob?

what happened with the yard sale?
We didn't see any other sales going on in the development, so we wondered if everyone opted not to do it after all? We did pretty well actually, but most of the folks who came said they just saw it in passing. I thought it was going to be in 2 papers? To be honest though, I never checked to see.

selling DEFENDER arcade game at comm yard sale
For anyone interested,
I will be putting my original Williams DEFENDER arcade game out at the yard sale on Saturday (that is, if it doesn't sell before then).
The game works great, I'm only selling it because I have some others and no longer need this one. I am asking $600 obo for it. If anyone is interested please contact me at jmbiii@yahoo.com to check it out or get more information.
I have owned it since January 2008. It was not working when I brought it home, and I repaired it. It's been fine ever since. Feel free to pass on to anyone you know who might be interested.
